Thomas Llewellyn and Thomas Llewellyn II

The earliest verified ancestor of this line was Thomas Llewellyn, considered a descendant in the family of the 11th century Prince of Wales, who was born in Wales around 1617. His son, Thomas Llewellyn II, was probably born in 1643 in Glamorganshire County, South Wales. In 1663, the younger Thomas Llewellyn contracted with Daniel Vernon and arrived in America as his indentured servant. One version of the family story says that two years later he had paid off his passage and immediately married Daniel Vernon's daughter Ruth, becoming Daniel's son-in-law. Another version has him working for 7 years to pay off passage, plus another 3 years to pay for 50 acres in Isle of Wright, Virginia. There is also a possibility that Thomas was a Quaker.
